Benjamin Cheever Howard Papers, 1849-1864.

Collection consists primarily of correspondence written by Benjamin Cheever Howard to his sisters, Ellen and Jane, while travelling between Boston, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. One letter written by his brother, William Augustus, is also included. A newspaper clipping of a poem, "To a Sister" can be found in this collection. Of interest is a lithograph of San Francisco, circa 1850 by W. H. O'Grady, depicted in the letterhead of one of Benjamin's letters.
